Dubai is know for it’s fantastic architecture , with many spectacular building being built every year but also known for the vibrant nightlife and luxury shopping. What can you see in Dubai ?
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood in Bur Dubai is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city. Best seen walking, this area offers a nostalgic view of a bygone era with traditional wind towers and a maze of winding alleyways. You can visit the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) where guests can take part in Arabic classes, heritage tours and guided mosque visits to better appreciate the local culture. After exploring, take an atmospheric abra ride to the souks on the other side of the Creek.
The Dubai Mall is the ultimate destination for shopaholics. Located adjacent to the world’s tallest building, Dubai Mall is one place in Dubai where the shopping freaks will rejoice. Apart from the shopping outlets, Dubai Mall has entertainment and leisurely spots to have a fun-filled day. The venue has got 1,200-plus shops and 150 restaurants; an indoor theme park, an ice rink, a huge indoor waterfall, a choreographed outdoor fountain, and a vast Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. With more than 1,200 retail stores, two anchor department stores, and hundreds of food and beverage outlets, Dubai malls cover an area equivalent to 100 football pitches (more than 1 million sqm). Sitting slap-bang between Dubai’s older neighborhoods clustered around the creek and the city’s modern sprawl, this ginormous 150-meter-high picture frame is one of Dubai’s latest sights. Inside, a series of galleries whisk you through the city’s history and explore Emirati heritage before you travel up to the Sky Deck, where there are fantastic panoramas of both old and new Dubai to be snapped on the viewing platforms. Sheikh Zayed Road is the main thoroughfare running through Dubai’s modern downtown business district. This wide, eight-lane highway is rimmed with towering glass, chrome, and steel high-rises along its entire length. It’s one of the best on-the-ground vantage points for Dubai’s famed skyscraper views.
Another big reason to visit Dubai is the World EXPO 2020. That will be a sight to behold! Expo 2020 will (of course) be in 2020 – although it doesn’t officially start until later in the year. It will run for six months from October 20 to April 10, with pavillions open and entertainment scheduled between 10am and 1am on weekdays, and 10am to 2am on weekends.
